Dive Index - album Refolded: Waving At Airplanes Remixes Listen/Buy/Watch HERE
Refolded is the new album of revisits, reinterpretations, and remixes of songs from the Waving At Airplanes album which came out in the spring of 2020 amidst the pandemic. During lockdown, Will Thomas moved his studio to the small town of Ojai, CA and decided to rework some of the songs, venturing into a variety of styles that prove to be darker, more beat driven and touching on cinematic. Will also reached out to Mike Lindsay (of Tunng and LUMP) who did a Dive Index remix ages ago for the Collisions album.
Mike decided to rework the song, She’s Exploding and came up with a wild, dynamic and rather ‘bonkers’ (his words) remix. Will also called up friend and cellist Alison Chesley (Helen Money) to work on the remix of the title track, Waving at Airplanes which is a stripped down collage of string parts intertwined with Natalie Walker’s vocal.
Two videos have been produced for the album - She’s Exploding features movement by Will in time-lapse to compliment the frenetic feel of Mike’s production with cameos from dog Sparky and husband, Chris. Wish I Had a Pulse features a collection of spring blooms that sprung up around the Ojai studio. Shot at night, the flowers and grasses were inserted into a power drill and spun around under a spotlight and shot in slow motion.
