Transparencies is the first collaboration between Roger Eno and Will Thomas. The two met virtually and began the creative process via file sharing. Halfway through recording the album, Will visited Roger in East Anglia to meet, write and record. The result was a jaunt around the countryside to various old churches and buildings to play various pianos, harmoniums, accordions and ringing church bells. The song Adaptation features the bells samples and re-tuned and the track Intersection features all noises, creaks and air from the bellows of the accordion.
